Use the lid hook without damage

Hang it fully, keep it off the legs

The manual: "Inside the barbecue lid is an angled lid hook. Simply slide the lid to the side and hang the lid on the bowl." Owners report the lid lip rubbing the aluminium legs, and a hook that slips off and drops the lid (TVWBB, owner reports).

  1. Slide the lid to the side and hang it on the bowl by its hook, damper at the top.
  2. Check the hook is right over the rolled rim before you let go.
  3. Turn it along the rim until its lip hangs clear of the legs: the lip rests on a leg if you hang it beside one (owner reports).
  4. Never hang it on the bowl handle (the manual).
  5. In wind, or before you move the kettle, put the lid down upside down on a soft mat instead.
  6. Each spring, look at the hook: not bent, not loose, no sharp edge. It is part of the lid, and Weber sells no hook on its own.
