Covers, storage and winter
Cover it, store it, cook in the cold
From the manual and Weber UK's Clean and care, winter-ready and winter tips pages.
- Store it only once the ash and charcoal are completely out (the manual).
- Empty the ash catcher: wet ash ruins a barbecue.
- Put the lid on, close the lid damper and set the One-Touch to closed.
- Fit a cover: Weber's Premium cover 7143 or cover 7176, both for 57 cm kettles.
- In winter, roll it into a garage or shed if you can (Weber collector, on Weber's blog).
- To cook in the cold, clear snow and ice, empty old ash, add fuel and allow 5 to 10 minutes more preheat; keep the lid closed and stand it across the wind.
Weber's own pages differ: one says store it inside for winter, the winter tips page says there is no need, just cover it.
