Every cook: sweep and empty the ash
Sweep with the One-Touch, empty the catcher
The manual's every-cook steps.
Wait until all the charcoal has burned out and the kettle is cool.
Lift out the cooking grate and the charcoal grate.
Move the One-Touch handle back and forth (the clean mark) to sweep the ash through the vents into the catcher.
Squeeze the ash catcher handle and lift it off.
Tip the cold ash into a metal bin.
Hang the catcher back in the ring and squeeze until it locks.
A Weber collector on Weber's Clean and care blog: empty the ash as soon as it is cold, because wet ash ruins a barbecue. Cold lumpwood ash can go on the compost; briquette ash goes in the bin (Weber UK).
