Light it and turn it off

Push, turn, press

The manual's lighting steps. Light it with the lid open, and do not lean over the grill.

  1. Open the lid.
  2. Check every knob is off: push in and turn clockwise.
  3. Open the cylinder valve slowly. US: turn the tank valve anticlockwise and wait 60 seconds.
  4. Start with the burner furthest left: push its knob in and turn it anticlockwise to start/high.
  5. Push and hold the ignition button: you hear it tick. Look for the flame through the grates, or through the half-circle cut-out in the Flavorizer bar.
  6. Light the other burners the same way, one at a time, left to right.

It does not light: light it by hand

The manual's test for telling a gas fault from an igniter fault. The match holder is no longer supplied: Weber's 2024 addendum says use a long-reach lighter or a long match.

  1. Turn every knob off and wait 5 minutes if you have just tried.
  2. Open the lid.
  3. Light a long-reach lighter or a long match.
  4. Hold the flame down through the grates, past the Flavorizer bars, beside the left burner.
  5. Push in the left knob and turn it slowly to start/high.
  6. Lights by hand but not with the button: check the igniter. Lights neither way: a gas fault.

Turn it off

The manual.

  1. Push in each knob and turn it clockwise to off.
  2. Turn the gas off at the cylinder.
  3. Let it cool before you cover it.

A grease fire: turn off all the burners and keep the lid closed until it is out (the manual). Then clean the grease tray.
