Igniter battery and wires
The igniter battery
The manual: no ticking, check the battery first, then the wires. The battery is 1 AA under a ribbed cap at the bottom of the igniter module (assembly guide).
- Turn every knob off and close the cylinder valve.
- Open the doors and find the igniter module under the left of the cookbox.
- Unscrew the ribbed battery cap by hand.
- Take out the old AA. Fit a new one the right way round, with any clear plastic wrap removed (not the label).
- Screw the cap back on.
- Press the ignition button: it should tick.
Then check the wires
The manual's wire check. The four electrode wires are colour-coded: yellow 14 in, black 23 in, blue 28 in and green 33 in (Weber's parts list). The US manual's page 23 shows which outlet each goes to.
- Look along each wire for damage or chewing.
- Check both wires are pushed fully onto the ignition button, under the control panel.
- Check each wire is pushed onto its own colour outlet on the module.
- Check each electrode tip is clean of grease and rust.
- Press the button and listen.
