Shut it down: the shut-down cycle

The 15-minute shut-down cycle

Start it with the lid closed, and always let the full 15-minute shut-down cycle finish before you switch off or unplug (the manual).

The manual: "Always run your grill through the full 15-minute shut-down cycle."

1. Close the lid.
2. Press and hold the dial for 3 seconds (or choose Shutdown in the app). The display shows "Shutting down".
3. Leave it. The fan runs to burn out the firepot and cool the grill: about 15 minutes (the manual), 15 to 25 depending on the set temperature (Traeger support).
4. At the end it drops a few pellets into the firepot for the next start, then the screen turns off.
5. Only then switch off at the main power switch, and unplug if you want to.
6. Cover it only when it is cool.
