Covers, rain and cold
The manual and Traeger support.
- Cover the grill when you are not using it, and only when it is cool (cover BAC557).
- Never store the cover under the grill. Wipe it clean; do not machine-wash it (Traeger support).
- Rain and light snow are fine to cook in, but keep the cord and any extension-cord joint out of water and snow (the manual).
- Use an extension cord only if it is outdoor-rated, earthed and No. 14 AWG, inspected, not joined to another, and not run through a window or door (the manual).
- In cold weather expect slower starts, more pellets and cooler running. Shelter it from wind, and park it level. Below freezing, fit Traeger's insulation blanket (BAC627, made for the Pro 575 and 780), only when the grill is cool, and cook at or under 175 °C (350 °F) with it on: Traeger support says the blanket can make the grill run hot above that or above freezing.
- Below −29 °C (−20 °F) the display may be damaged (the manual).
