Chimney, gaskets, hinges and handle

Replace the chimney

Traeger support, "How to Replace a Chimney". Chimney kit KIT0005; cap KIT0008; ring gasket KIT0795.

  1. Make sure the grill is cold and unplugged.
  2. Unscrew the cap.
  3. Remove the 2 screws, holding the nuts inside the barrel if your grill has them.
  4. Fit the new pipe with a new ring gasket between it and the barrel.
  5. Refit the screws, washers and any nuts.
  6. Screw the cap on with a 2 cm (3/4 in) gap.

Lid gap, hinges and a hot handle

Traeger support.

  1. Check the gap between the lid and the barrel: over 6 mm (1/4 in) is not normal.
  2. Loosen the hinge screws, sit the lid square on the barrel, and retighten them.
  3. If a hinge or the door stop is damaged, order the hinge kit (KIT0001) or right door stop (KIT0789) through Traeger support. A whole lid is KIT0430 (black) or KIT0433 (bronze), with the handle (KIT0429), hinges and door stop.
  4. If the lid handle gets too hot, use gloves, or fit Traeger's handle extender (KIT0578, not fitted at the factory).
  5. Whenever the hopper is off, check the square hopper-to-barrel gasket and replace it if it crumbles (KIT0802).
