Which part is dead?
Which part is dead? Traeger's wiring tests
Traeger support, "Blown Fuses" and "Wire Swap Test, Non-WiFIRE Grills". These are live tests with the controller out: switch off before every change, keep hands away from the terminals, the fan and the auger, and if you are unsure, call Traeger support.
- Unplug, remove the bottom grate and the controller's 2 screws, and draw the controller forward so you can see the red light on its back.
- Under the hopper, unplug the red (auger motor), orange (fan) and purple (hot rod) plug pairs. Leave the black (power cord) pair connected.
- Fit a good fuse, plug in and switch on. Red light off: the controller (or the cord) is at fault. Light flickering: the cord.
- Switch off, reconnect one part, the hot rod first (the most common culprit), then switch on with the dial on SMOKE for 5 minutes.
- Repeat with the fan, then the auger motor. The part that blows the fuse is the one to replace.
- For a part that simply will not run, Traeger's wire swap test swaps plug pairs between parts to tell a dead part from a dead controller output: follow that article step by step.
