RTD replacement
Replace the RTD
Power switch off, cord unplugged, grill cold. The manual: "Disconnect the power cord before servicing the grill." Use hand tools, not a power drill (Traeger support).
Traeger support, "How to Replace the RTD". Part KIT0779. Unlike the Pro 575's sensor, the hopper stays on.
- Switch off and unplug, remove the 2 controller screws and pull the controller out.
- Loosen the 2 screws of the green terminal block on its back with a 1/8 in (3 mm) flat screwdriver and free the RTD's two white wires.
- Open the lid and lift out the grates, drip tray and heat baffle.
- Inside the barrel, remove the 2 Phillips screws holding the RTD and pull it and its wires out.
- Feed the new RTD's wires through the same channel and fix it with the 2 screws.
- Put the wires into the terminal block (either way round) and tighten gently, keep them off the fan blades, and refit the parts and the controller.
