Fuse: check and replace
Check and replace the fuse
Power switch off, cord unplugged, grill cold. The manual: "Disconnect the power cord before servicing the grill." Use hand tools, not a power drill (Traeger support).
Traeger support, "Blown Fuses" and "Power Issues on Non-Connected Pellet Grills". The 2015 manual: "Remove the control and check the fuse on back."
- Check the easy things first: the dial is not on SHUT DOWN CYCLE, the switch is on, the plug is in, and the outlet and its RCD work (try a 300 W appliance; no extension cord).
- Switch off and unplug.
- Remove the 2 controller screws and ease the controller forward.
- Find the fuse on its back, at the lower right, in a green and grey box or a black screw-cap tube. Look for a broken wire or burn marks inside the glass.
- Fit the spare (usually tied to the fuse box), or a new 3 to 5 A 250 V fuse: KIT0781, or a hardware-store fuse of the same rating (Buss BK/S500-5-R).
- Refit the controller and its screws by hand, then test. If the new fuse blows too, find the part that blows it.
