Connect the gas

UK and Europe: clip-on regulator and hose clip

The manual and Ooni's help centre, for the UK 37 mbar oven.

  1. Turn the knob off (white line at 12 o'clock).
  2. Use propane in a cylinder of up to 13 kg with a 27 mm valve, standing upright (help centre).
  3. Set the regulator's black switch level (off). Press and hold its black button, press it onto the cylinder valve and turn until it clicks. Let go and pull up gently to check it holds. Hands only.
  4. On the oven's 8 mm barb, push the hose fully on and tighten the hose clip with a screwdriver (help centre).
  5. Lay the hose with no kinks, away from the oven and never under it.
  6. Do the leak test before you light it.

Other regulators (the manual): POL and screw-in types, used on red UK propane cylinders, in parts of Europe and in Australia, have a left-hand thread. Screw them into the cylinder valve by hand as far as they go. See fit a POL regulator.

US and Canada: QCC1 regulator and hose nut

The North America manual and Ooni's help centre.

  1. Close the tank valve and turn the knob off.
  2. Stand the tank upright, at least 635 mm (25 in) from the oven and never under it: up to 13 kg (30 lb), with an overfill protection device (the manual).
  3. Screw the brass hose nut onto the gas terminal by hand. Then hold the terminal with one spanner and tighten the nut a quarter-turn with a 19 mm (3/4 in) spanner.
  4. Turn the QCC1 handwheel clockwise onto the tank valve, hand-tight until it stops. The manual: "Use of a wrench could damage the quick coupling nut".
  5. Lead the hose away from the oven, never under it.
  6. Do the leak test before you light it.
