Change a UK regulator

Fit a POL regulator for red propane cylinders

Ooni's help-centre article is written for the Koda 16 ("How do I change my regulator on Ooni Koda 16 (UK)"). The UK Koda 12 has the same 37 mbar kit with an 8 mm barb and clipped hose, so the method carries over. Red UK propane cylinders take a POL (screw-in, anticlockwise thread) regulator, not the clip-on one in the box. If you are not comfortable, ask a local gas engineer.

  1. Turn the gas off, let the oven cool, and take the old regulator off the cylinder.
  2. Loosen the hose clip at the regulator. Soften the hose end with a hairdryer or hot water for 10 seconds, then pull the old regulator off.
  3. Use a regulator of the same 37 mbar rating with the right valve fitting for your cylinder.
  4. Push its tail fully into the hose and tighten the clip.
  5. Fit it to the cylinder by hand and do the leak test.
