Cracks, and changing a segment

The 2019 FAQ and the manual.

  1. Keep using a cracked segment or fire ring. The slots are expansion joints; stress cracks are not a defect, rarely spread and do not affect the cook (2019 FAQ).
  2. To change a broken segment (101053-L-SEGMENT), lift out the grid system, basket, charcoal grate and fire ring (8.9 kg) gently.
  3. Lift the broken segment out and stand the new one in the frame. Keep the frame's ash opening exactly at the draft door.
  4. Refit the fire ring with its recess exactly in front of the chip-feeder flap.
  5. Always put the charcoal grate under the basket, and never use the basket without it.
