The lid will not stay open

The lid is heavy and held open by springs. The manual: "Do not underestimate the high weight of the lid." Never just let go of it when you close it, keep hands and tools out from between lid and base, and replace damaged springs at once.

• Loose wing nuts, or the lid's pins not fully down in their slots: re-seat the lid and tighten the wing nuts.
• A weak or damaged spring. The manual: replace damaged springs at once, through the dealer (hinge and bands set 201072-ICON).
