Take it apart: lid off first
What comes off, and the spring warning
The lid is heavy and held open by springs. The manual: "Do not underestimate the high weight of the lid." Never just let go of it when you close it, keep hands and tools out from between lid and base, and replace damaged springs at once.
- No tools: the lid itself (lift it off on its wing nuts), the cap, the grid, the deflector and lift, the charcoal grate, the fire ring, the firebox and the protector stone.
- Tools, owner jobs: the band clamp screws, the chip-feeder flap, the thermometer, the cart bolts.
- Dealer: the hinge springs. They come in the hinge and bands set 201072-ICON, and Monolith publishes no way to change them on their own.
Monolith calls nothing technician-only, but warranty repairs must be done by Monolith or a dealer it authorises.
