Hinge springs: via the dealer
The quick-release hinge: what you can do
The lid is heavy and held open by springs. The manual: "Do not underestimate the high weight of the lid." Never just let go of it when you close it, keep hands and tools out from between lid and base, and replace damaged springs at once.
- Check: the wing nuts are tight (wing nuts) and the hinge acorn nuts are snug (tightening the bands).
- Lid will not stay open, or it wobbles: loose wing nuts, pins not fully down in their slots, or a weak spring. Re-seat the lid first (put the lid back on).
- Springs: the manual: "Replace damaged springs immediately." Monolith publishes no method and no separate spring number for this hinge. The springs come in the hinge and bands set 201072-ICON (Firefly, £119.90). Ask your dealer.
- Older Juniors (1.0 and Pro 1.0) have a different sprung hinge with springs 201058-J. Its methods are not for the Pro 2.0.
