• Why the Junior can: the 2021 catalogue says the Junior Pro 2.0 "gets the popular ICON hinge and so is ready for the fireplate". With the lid lifted off, a steel fireplate (a plancha ring) sits on the base rim over the fire.
• Which plate: Monolith's ICON fireplate 102021. Monolith publishes no fit check for the Junior beyond the catalogue line, so ask the dealer before you buy. The fireplate is not in the 3D model.
• First: lift the lid off with the grill cold, and lay it somewhere safe and soft.
• Then: light the charcoal, set the plate on and control the heat with the draft door; with no lid, the cap does nothing.
