Hinge plates and springs
The Pro 2.0 hinge: what you can do
The dome is heavy and held open by springs. The manual: "Do not underestimate the high weight of the lid." Never just let go of it when you close it, keep hands and tools out from between dome and base, and replace damaged springs at once.
Dome will not stay open, or the hinge creaks: on older grills the 2019 FAQ and the 2016 sheet blame hinge brackets that are not parallel, loose nuts or a weak spring.
Springs or hinge parts on a Pro 2.0: Monolith publishes no method and no separate spring number. Firefly sells the whole Pro 2.0 hinge and bands set (221072-C). Ask your dealer.
Hinge plates (methods C and D of the 2016 sheet, older hinge): loosen the upper 4 acorn nuts on each side to realign the plates; method D lifts the dome off. Not for the Pro 2.0, whose dome Monolith lists as not removable.
Older Classic only: change a hinge spring
The 2016 hinge sheet, for the older Classic spring hinge with two extension springs (201058-C). It is here so owners of older grills can tell the difference.
Put on gloves; work with a helper.
Your helper opens the dome fully and holds it.
Grip the spring at the lower bolt with water-pump pliers.
