Unpack it and set it in the stand

The grill weighs 30.8 kg (68 lb) by the 2014 spec sheet and 37.4 kg (82.5 lb) by Kamado Joe's page today. The 2024 manual's steps.

1. Cut the plastic bands and open the carton.
2. Take the parts packed inside the dome out. The manual: the ceramic is breakable.
3. Check all band and hinge nuts are snug before you lift it.
4. Lift it with two or more people in gloves, using the rear hinge and the front lower opening as lifting points.
5. Set it into the stand with the draft door to the front.

Fit the inside parts

The order from the 2024 manual (steps 2 to 4). It says some of these may already be done in the factory.

1. Set the firebox in, its cut-out at the front, lined up with the draft door.
2. Set the fire ring on top of the firebox.
3. Lay the cast-iron fire grate in the bottom of the firebox.
4. Hook the accessory rack into the fire ring and lay the deflector on it.
5. Lay the cooking grate on top.
6. Fit the top vent over the chimney.

Then register the grill.
