Firebox, ring and fire grate
Cracks in the firebox or ring
- One piece, no panels. The Joe Jr.'s firebox is one ceramic bowl (KJ-CFB13) under one ceramic ring (KJ-CFR13). A piece broken through means that whole piece. There are no gaps between walls to worry about.
- Hairline cracks that leave it whole: Kamado Joe gives no rule for the Joe Jr. Owners report cracks are common on small one-piece fireboxes; one that still holds together keeps working.
- The ceramic carries a limited lifetime warranty for the original, registered buyer.
Change the firebox or the ring
The assembly order in reverse, with Kamado Joe Europe's fix for a wobbly firebox (Classic II).
- With the grill cold, lift out the cooking grate, the deflector and the accessory rack.
- Lift off the fire ring.
- Lift out the fire grate.
- Lift out the firebox with both hands.
- If the new firebox rocks on the uneven floor of the grill, put a washer or a wood chip under its foot (Kamado Joe Europe).
- Set the firebox in with its cut-out lined up with the draft door, then refit the ring, the fire grate, the rack, the deflector and the grate.
