The dome is hard to open, or slams

The springs carry part of the dome's weight, and there is nothing to adjust. A spring that has stretched, broken or come off its post makes the dome heavy to lift and lets it drop hard. Replace it: KJ-SSS13 (our reading; Kamado Joe gives no fault guide).
