Deep clean inside

Take the inside out

The 2024 manual's deep clean, once or twice a year.

1. Start cold: the day after a clean burn is easiest.
2. Lift out the cooking grate, the deflector and the accessory rack.
3. Lift off the fire ring.
4. Lift out the cast-iron fire grate.
5. Lift out the firebox with both hands: it is one piece, wide and heavy for its size.

Clean and refit

Still the 2024 manual.

1. Clear ash and debris from between the firebox and the body.
2. Brush the inside ceramic with a plastic-bristle brush.
3. Scoop or vacuum the bottom.
4. Wipe down the hinge and the outside.
5. Check the band screws and the handle nuts: the manual says check all nuts, screws and bolts before use.
6. Refit everything in the assembly order, the firebox cut-out lined up with the draft door.
