Burp the dome

Burp the dome before you open it

When the grill is above 175 °C (350 °F), a sudden rush of air can make the fire flare out of the dome (a flashback). Burp it every time you lift the dome, says the 2024 manual.

1. Stand to one side, gloves on, face and body clear of the vents.
2. Lift the dome by the handle 5 to 8 cm (2 to 3 in).
3. Hold it there for about 5 seconds.
4. Open it fully.
5. Do not leave the grill unattended with the dome open.
