Steps marked "the manual" are from Kamado Joe's Big Joe II Owner's Manual (9804200026 210511-GH, May 2021), the only edition found. Where it is silent or wrong, the Classic II's manuals (2025, 9804200033 250306-GH; 2019) are used and named: the first fire, the latch and the burp-time hardware checks. The Big Joe manual's latch page and its SlōRoller warning are copied from the Classic III and are not followed. Kamado Joe Europe's dealer notes ("KJ Warranty and repair information support", 2021, which name the Big Joe II parts) are the only Kamado Joe source for the gasket, band and hinge replacement order, the thermometer check, firebox panels and rust. Kamado Joe's own videos, FAQ and blog are named where used; owner reports and retailers are marked. Nothing here was checked on a grill.

Not settled, and flagged where they appear: band bolt sizes; the disengagement kit's nut and fitting; the latch key size and spacer; the gasket kit length and the glue; the thermometer fixing; the cart fixings; lifting points (the manual contradicts itself); the manual's "alternate hinge"; the stand-alone feet spacing; hot items on the shelves. Kamado Joe has no frozen-lid or wet-grill advice.

Sizes are Kamado Joe's: 1480 mm (58.3 in) wide with the shelves out, 1360 mm (53.5 in) high to the Kontrol Tower's cap, 184.8 kg (407.4 lb) with the cart; the egg is 701 mm across the bands (size guide). The maker's photos make the shelves look shorter than the official width; the model follows the official figure.
