It will not get hot

Check, in order:

• Ash. Ash on the fire grate and in the drawer chokes the air. Clear it every cook (Kamado Joe's chef).
• Vents. Both fully open while lighting.
• Charcoal. Too little lit. More charcoal means more heat, up to the manual's 4.5 kg (10 lb): never overfill.
• The dome. Open 10 minutes while lighting, then closed (the manual).
