Before storing it

Cap it, cover it, keep it dry

The manual (pp. 7, 26, 41, 66).

  1. Let it cool fully, below 45 °C.
  2. Close the cylinder valve, take the regulator off and put the dust cap on the cylinder valve.
  3. Put the cap back on the gas inlet.
  4. Swap the chimney for the rain cap: only when the oven is cold and not in use.
  5. Keep it covered and out of the rain. The Gen 2 cover (AM1980 / AM1981) fits with or without the door, arch or mantel; the stand cover is AM1978 / AM1979.
  6. Take the display battery and meat probes indoors. Keep gas cylinders outdoors, never in a building or garage.
