Winter care and re-curing

Cold weather and re-curing

Gozney says little about winter. The manual's lines: a weaker flame below 0 °C, and a curing fire after a long idle spell.

  1. Keep it covered once it is cool: see before storing it.
  2. Expect less power from the cylinder below 0 °C (32 °F) (the manual).
  3. Stand it somewhere sheltered and allow a longer heat-up: Livingetc took about 37 minutes to reach 450 °C in winter with the bigger Arc XL.
  4. After a long spell without use, cure it again: 30 minutes on a medium to low flame, as at the first firing (the manual).
  5. Keep it in a dry, low-humidity place (UK/EU manual).
  6. Use a bigger, fuller cylinder in the cold. This is general gas knowledge, not a Gozney instruction.
