Safety
Carbon monoxide, clearances and gas
- Outdoors only, for home use, in every region (the manual; help centre). Never in a building, garage, tent, vehicle, boat or RV, under a balcony or deck, or as a heater. There is no flue kit for a covered area.
- Carbon monoxide forms when the oven does not get enough air. It has no smell or colour. Never cover the mouth while lit, keep 50 mm clear round the dock, and fit a CO alarm if needed. Signs: tight forehead, headache, weakness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting; at worst coma and death (the manual).
- Clearances: 1.5 m (5 ft) from any structure, combustible material and other gas cylinders (the manual, p. 5); 30 cm at the back and sides and 1 m in front of combustible construction (p. 23); 7.5 m from flammable liquids; wind breaks over 45 cm away.
- Gas only: never wood or charcoal, never gas and wood together. Leak test with soapy water at first use, every cylinder change and after undoing any fitting. Light: dial in, 9 o'clock, then 7 o'clock and hold up to 30 s. Off: cylinder valve off first, wait 3 minutes, then turn the control dial to off.
- Flame out: If the flame goes out, turn off the control dial and the cylinder valve, and wait 5 minutes before you relight (the manual).
