Leak test with soapy water
The soapy-water leak test
When: before first use, whenever the cylinder is refilled or changed, and every time you disconnect and reconnect any gas fitting (the manual). Never look for a leak with a flame, and never light the burner while you test.
- Check the control dial is off, with no flames, sparks or smoking nearby.
- Open the cylinder valve.
- Brush or spray soapy water on the cylinder-to-regulator joint, the regulator-to-hose joint and the hose-to-oven quick-connect, and on any cracks along the hose.
- Watch for growing bubbles.
- Bubbles at the oven: close the valve, re-attach the quick-connect and test again. If they come back, turn off the gas and do not use the oven.
- Bubbles at the cylinder valve: take the regulator off and test again with a different cylinder.
