Rain, covers and the cold

BGE US and BGE Europe.

  1. Cover the EGG only when cool, with a heavy-duty ventilated cover, in a sheltered spot (BGE US).
  2. Cooking in rain: fit the rEGGulator rain cap (120748).
  3. Before a freeze, prop the lid slightly open or wrap foil round the gasket so the dome cannot freeze shut (BGE US).
  4. If it freezes shut, never force it open (BGE US).
  5. After rain or long storage, heat gradually and stay under 100 °C for the first hour (BGE Europe).
  6. Use fresh charcoal after a long stand: old charcoal holds moisture (BGE Europe).
