Big Green Egg's manuals are wordless pictures drawn for the Large: the 2026 manual for its band and hinge kit 117984 and the 2020 manual for the partly assembled Large. No XL manual was found, so steps read from them assume the XL is built the same way, and are marked. Written methods come from Big Green Egg's three voices: BGE US (biggreenegg.com), BGE Europe (biggreenegg.eu) and BGE UK (Alfresco Concepts, biggreenegg.co.uk, the only BGE step lists for the gasket, band and dome). Ace Hardware, a BGE dealer, gives the spanner for each nut. Owner reports are marked. Nothing here was checked on an EGG.

Not settled, and flagged where they appear: clean-burn and cooking limits (BGE Europe 275 °C, BGE UK 300 °C, BGE US rated to 399 °C); the first-cook limit; the re-tighten interval (1 month or 90 days); band height; torque; spring safety (no BGE wording); gasket glue, solvent and edge; the thermometer nut; the Nest removal tools; the acacia Mates spanner; the draft door frame screws; the serial number's location; freeing a frozen dome; whether the XL's fire box is one piece; the XL's dome and base weights; the XL Nest's height. The brisket follows recipes published on biggreenegg.com.

Sizes: Big Green Egg gives 78 cm high and 99 kg for the XL egg (BGE Europe; the XL spec sheet says 217 lb, biggreenegg.com 219 lb). The spec sheet's drawing, measured, gives about 79 cm to the top of its older metal top and 673 mm across the ceramic. About 1700 mm wide at the Mates tips and 1140 mm high on the Nest are estimates from that drawing and the Large's measured Nest and Mates.
