Shut it down: vents closed, no water

BGE US's put-out guide and BGE Europe.

  1. Brush the grid while it is still hot, so food cannot go mouldy (BGE Europe). Burp it first: lift the dome 5 to 10 cm and lower it again, 2 or 3 times, then open it fully (BGE US).
  2. Close the draft door fully.
  3. Close the rEGGulator fully.
  4. Leave the dome shut: the fire is out in about 20 minutes (BGE Europe). Opening it adds oxygen and can rekindle it (BGE US).
  5. Never put the charcoal out with water (BGE US and Europe).
  6. Leave the unburnt charcoal for next time.
