Replace the springs

Fit a new pair of springs

The Large's 2026 manual pictures (steps 8b and 8c) and the US parts list. BGE has no spring-tension adjustment: worn springs are replaced as a pair. The XL's dome is heavier, so keep your helper on it throughout.

1. Open the dome fully, helper holding it.
2. Take both old springs off.
3. Check the studs and hinge plates are straight and tight.
4. Hook on the new XL pair, 117953, one each side of the hinge.
5. Push the 4 caps onto the spring studs (Large manual step 8c).
6. Close and open the dome: it should stay open on its own.
