Firebox, fire ring and fire grate
Cracks: normal or a claim?
- BGE Europe: "Ceramic cracks are usually harmless and generally don't need replacement"; damage that impairs function goes to your dealer.
- BGE US warranty: hairline and surface cracks from heat are normal and not covered unless the part loses its structure or breaks.
- Owners: a cracked fire box that stays in place and holds charcoal is fine to use; dealers often ask for the serial number and a photo (owner report).
- Causes: very fast, very high heat (BGE Europe FAQ) and a grid dropped on the ring.
Fire box 112637 and fire ring 401212 are lifetime ceramic for the original registered buyer.
