Big Green Egg Medium Maintenance Guide

Big Green Egg Medium

The Medium Big Green Egg: a 15 inch (38 cm) ceramic charcoal grill, here in its EGG Nest stand (302007) with the folding 17.5 in acacia EGG Mates (120670). BGE US sells the Medium in a Nest package (129673) with the convEGGtor, Grid Gripper and Ash Tool; no Medium package includes the Mates. This guide covers the current EGG, made from 2020: the cast-iron rEGGulator top vent, two black hinge springs, the 2 inch dome thermometer and the 2020 mesh screen in the draft door.

The Medium is its own egg, not the Large made smaller: 72 cm high (BGE Europe) against 84 cm, 52 kg against 73 kg, and a 15 in grid that takes 6 burgers, 4 steaks or 3 vertical chickens (BGE US). The rEGGulator, the draft door kit and screen, the Ash Tool and the spanners are the Large's; the ceramics, bands, springs, the short acacia handle, the thermometer, the gasket kit, the fire box, ring and grate, the grid, the convEGGtor, the Nest and the Mates are the Medium's own. Big Green Egg's 2020 "EGG & Band M" manual (picture-only) is drawn for the Medium; no Medium band-kit manual was found, so the band screens read the Large's and say so.

Big Green Egg speaks with three voices: Big Green Egg Inc. in the US, Big Green Egg Europe, and the UK distributor Alfresco Concepts. They disagree on temperatures, so every step says whose advice it follows. Retailers and owners are named where they are used. BGE UK no longer lists the Medium EGG, but still sells its parts. The Medium has no latch.
