rEGGulator and hinge oiling

Oil the rEGGulator and hinge

BGE Europe's maintenance page. The rEGGulator has no fixing: it sits loose on the chimney.

  1. Lift the rEGGulator off the chimney, in gloves if it is warm.
  2. Rub it with vegetable oil or Crisco, ideally while still slightly warm.
  3. Work the lid and disc to and fro to spread the oil.
  4. Spray the hinge pivot with WD-40 or silicone spray.
  5. Wash the hinge steel and springs with soapy water.
